In most cases,when current passes through wires of transformers, electrical motors,generators, transmission lines and others, energy is wasted. The waste of energy can be minimized if materials that has no resistance at low temperature are being used. These materials are called superconductors.

It was in 1911 that a Dutch physicist named Kamerlingh Onnes found out that the resistance of a conductor will not change significantly but suddenly dropped to zero at a certain temperature.
